What do you do?
I am a beauty therapist and run Beauty Box in Gloucester, where I offer a range of holistic and beauty therapies including the ancient art of threading.

What does threading entail?
Threading is a method of hair removal that involves twisting pure cotton threads to pluck hair and leaves clean lines and a good shape to the eyebrows. Unlike tweezing where a single hair is pulled out each time, threading can remove an entire row of hair, resulting in a straighter line.

Where does it come from?
It originated in India and has been used for centuries in the East to help remove facial hair. It's a particularly popular treatment in Asia and the Middle East, where it was seen as a simple, cheap and effective method for removing unwanted hair. It's now becoming one of the preferred choices for hair removal in the West as it is less painful, faster and seems to last longer than other methods.

Is it difficult to learn?
It is a bit of an art and it takes a while to master, so yes, it does take more effort to learn than some other beauty treatments but it's worth it because the results are so good.

How populat is it?
It is becoming more popular for all ages and the result really is brilliant. It makes a perfect eyebrow line for clients.

How long does it take?
It usually takes around 10 minutes to do the eyebrows. I can also treat other facial hair with this method, such as the upper lip and chin.

What's the cost?
